MY TOP 5 HAIR OILS AND WHY YOU SHOULD BE USING THEM

MY TOP 5 HAIR OILS AND WHY YOU SHOULD BE USING THEM

“MY HAIR QUITE OFTEN TENDS TO BE THE (UNINTENTIONAL) TALKING POINT OF MY INSTA IMAGES, PARTLY, THANKS TO MY FAMILY HAVING THE STRONGEST,  NATURAL BLONDE GENES IN THE BLOODY WORLD, BUT ALSO, BECAUSE I LOOK AFTER IT.”

Hair oils – something that has been shouted about by beauty blogs and magazines for a while now, but more increasingly within the last few years with the likes of Argan and coconut oil bursting onto the mainstream, beauty scene. My hair quite often tends to be the (unintentional) talking point of my Instagram images, partly, thanks to my family having the strongest, natural blonde genes in the whole bloody world, but also because I look after it. Admittedly I don’t use heat every day, have never coloured my hair and kind of let it do it’s own thing, but primarily – I nourish it often!

Slathering over your hair for an overnight moisture soak or massaging into the ends to tame fly-aways, I’ve noticed my hair has become so much more resistant to the elements now that I’m regularly treating my locks to some goodness! Whether you have thick, fine, curly or straight hair – there’s an oil here for all, regardless if you favour a thicker or silkier formula, I’ve founded up my top picks and why you can benefit from having some oils in your life (and locks 😉 )

THE CLASSIC

Ahh Argan oil – something that’s been shouted about for the last couple of years and for good reason! Lee Stafford is without a doubt, one of my fave hair care brands and I LOVE the argan oil range (the shampoo & conditioner are amaze!) for when my hair is screaming at me for a moisture hit. I love this nourishing miracle oil as it’s particularly hydrating yet lightweight, a firm favourite for the last year for taming my flyaway, smoothing damaged ends and giving my locks a moisture surge!

THE BEST FOR FINE HAIR (AND THOSE WORRIED

ABOUT OILS WEIGHING DOWN YOUR LOCKS!)

Batiste has always been a go to of mine for brilliant and affordable Haircare and this Hydrating Oil Mist certainly delivers the goods at £4.49 ! It’s the perfect, fine hair friendly hair oil and barely feels like you have anything on at all. A super fine mist means you have loads of control over how much product is on your locks.

Infused with oils to help reduce hair breakage, deliver hydration and leave a beautiful, subtle shine on your hair this is my go-to when I don’t want products to weigh down my locks, so amazing if you don’t like the feel of usual oils or serums!

THE GAME CHANGER

I’ve been using the Percy & Reed Wonder treatment oil for nearly a year now and I’m always falling back to  this one as it ticks all of the boxes: A multi-tasker, light weight, beautiful (but subtle) scent, lovely formula, a pleasure to apply and makes my hair feel wonderfully silky and quenched! A little goes a long way so you only need the tiniest of drops to warm in your hands and then apply through the lengths. I love to apply this one whilst my hair is still damp, out of the bath for a pampering treat – leaves my hair smelling gorgeous!

THE MULTITASKER

This Rare Oil treatment is a fab all rounder – body, face, hair, I LOVE to pack this one whilst I’m away to keep my skin and hair happy! A little goes a long way with this one so you get some bang for your buck and I love the dropper application on this bottle meaning there’s no spill! The non-greasy formula is perf if you’re like me and have fine hair and are worried about oils making your hair look unwashed! I love to rub this into the ends of my hair to give them some moisture or massage into my scalp before shampooing if winter is leaving my skin and scalp a little bit dry! Also great for rubbing on limbs for a holiday-like glow – I LOVE good multi-tasker!

THE PEOPLE PLEASER

The Moroccanoil treatment is a fab all rounder – men, women, frizz, dehydration or fine hair, this is a fab one for all complaints and deeply nourishes for a total hair treat! I love the size of this bottle – small enough to pack in a travel bag for a mid-trip hair pick me up but large enough so you can LOADS of uses from it!

I also love how rich and luxe feeling this one is – I love to pour a few drops into my hands, warm the product up and treat my hair to a really hydrating oil! I also love to slather this all over my hair if I’m having a pamper evening, wrap in a towel and leave in before showering it out in the morning for a super, moisture boost!

SHOP THE EDIT

I hope you loved this little post and it encouraged you to treat your hair to some loving! I’d love to know if you’re already a fan of hair oils (and which are your faves!) or if you’re a total newbie – I honestly CANNOT recommend them enough to keep your hair healthy & hydrated!

THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING A TRUSTWORTHY BLOGGER

THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING A TRUSTWORTHY BLOGGER

ABOVE ALL, I VALUE PEOPLES HONESTY AND DISCLOSURE AND I THINK THAT’S WHAT REALLY SETS OTHERS APART

I love writing about the blogging industry, it’s still really in it’s infancy (in the grand scheme of things!) it’s exciting and ever changing. If you’ve read my post here all about the blogosphere and how others have commented on it being oversaturated, you’ll know that I whole heartedly disagree and celebrate the ever growing community. However it has got me thinking (As well as Lydia’s though provoking post here) about my morals and stance as a blogger. Everyone wants different things, everyone values different things and that’s what makes it so diverse. However there’s one thing that I can’t help think that we should all try and uphold and that’s building and maintaining a feeling of trust and transparency amongst ourselves, our readers and fellow bloggers.

Really, without trust, why would anyone listen to a word we say, consider buying a shoe we love or take interest in our musings? I read the blogs I read because I value their opinion, I trust their view and appreciate what they have to say, even if I didn’t agree myself. I value their honesty and disclosure and that, in my opinion, is what truly sets some apart from others. When I deliberate collaborations and sponsorships that come my way I massively consider my audience, even more so than myself. If my readers have no respect and see me plugging new brands and items every day then how will they know which opinion to trust and which product I truly love? With this said, I’m exploring the importance of being a trustworthy blogger.

“I’ve always been damn proud to stamp that #ad on a post because I still find it incredible that I’m able to get paid for what I love and something that I built from nothing. Why should you be ashamed of that? Be honest and respectful and be proud of your hard work!”

DISCLOSURE, DISCLOSURE, DISCLOSURE

Something we notoriously love to seek out – it is the law after all. It would be massively shamed upon for big companies to hide ads or lie so why should we be able to get away with it when we have such trusting and impressionable readers? Twitter witch hunts are forever picking reality stars in particular apart for their lack of disclosure. Heavily promoting brands from supplements and protein to clothes and shoes. Absolutely nothing wrong with that within itself, however it becomes a problem once one stops disclosing what is paid advertorials – making it difficult for audiences to determine what is sponsored and what isn’t.

I’ve always been damn proud to stamp that #ad on a post because I still find it incredible that I’m able to get paid for what I love and something that I built from nothing. Why should you be ashamed of that? I’m also proud because every brand I work with has had a crazy amount of consideration put into it – why on earth would I share something wth you guys that I don’t love/use myself? A collab should be natural and enjoyable to write about because you have such a passion and belief in that brand, and I don’t know about you – but when I get excited about things, I don’t stop talking! The fact is a lot of influencers money is made through sponsored work, so don’t hide that – embrace it and others will appreciate your honesty! (and you won’t be breaking the ASA guidelines 😉 )

YOU CAN NEVER BE TOO PICKY

You can never be too picky because your blog, your social channels and your YouTube represents YOU. If you promote something you hate, the only reputation that takes a hit is yours. Kinda scary when your whole, little, business is in your hands but honesty is always the best policy and can’t really do you much harm – lying on the other hand, or false advertisements can. I see you guys as my friends and there’s nothing I love more than finding an awesome product, sharing it with my friends and letting them have a try. Which is why anyone I work with has to be worthy of my reccomendation to you all! Be picky, be fussy, turn things down and jump with joy when you find the perfect collab for you!

At present, I turn down 8 out of 10 collabs (which is a pretty big deal for someone who hasn’t got a mass following of 100,000s and I actually feel really pleased that I’m staying true to myself) This is purely because I don’t feel comfortable promoting things I can’t use or won’t use – if I was promoting 5 skin care brands at the same time I can’t help but feel you’d lose slight trust in my opinion. (that said, I religiously use a hell of a lot of skin care brands and you’ll know that from my Insta Stories!) I just find it’s easier to pour yourself and your heart into few collabs at a time – don’t feel the need to accept every thing that comes your way. Don’t accept anything you don’t feel comfortable and always disclose, always be honest and true to yourself and your audience will be able to see that and appreciate you even more!

RESPECT YOUR AUDIENCE AND SPREAD LOVE!

I always appreciate it when people take a moment to interact with their audience, take in to consideration what they like and tailor that into their work. I always try and respond to you loves on Instagram, YouTube & Twitter and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it when you send me messages on Insta stories! I find it so interesting when I share a story and you guys can relate or send me advice – because it really makes me feel like I must be doing something kinda right! It makes me feel connected to you guys and with every message I get to know you a little better – who you are, what you’e been through and what you enjoy reading about and watching!

That said, you guys always seem to enjoy my more personal posts – life, advice, the blogging industry – which is why I’m really inspired to write about all of those things currently. (I cannot thank you enough by the way, for all of your support on my body confidence post too – you are all AMAZING!) Building that all important relationship between blogger and audience is all about mutual respect. I love you guys and truly value everyone that takes the time to read my blog and watch my videos and I try to make that known! Similarly it really makes me happy to hear your feedback – what you like and your favourite posts. I trust your opinions, so when I ask for suggestions on Insta stories I know you guys are being honest and it will help me continue to improve and create things you like!

APPRECIATING THE HATERS, THE NEGATIVE & DOUBTFUL

APPRECIATING THE HATERS, THE NEGATIVE & DOUBTFUL

“LIFE IS TOUGH, BUT DARLING, SO ARE YOU.”

What better way to kick start a rambling blog post than starting it off with a cracking, good cliche quote (hey, sometimes they’re cliche for a reason!) Whoever you are, whatever you do and where ever you came from, I’m sure most of us have endured occasions of unwanted negativity in our lives. Whether you were teased, victim to the bullies at school or made to feel isolated or judged at work or around friends and family – it happens to the best of us throughout our lives. It can hit you when life is seemingly perfect and bring you down like a tonne of bricks. As angering, upsetting and difficult it can be, especially on top of everything else going on in your life – life really is tough, but you are so much TOUGHER!

I did a poll on my Twitter recently and asked what your fave posts were to read and general life and advice won by far – so here’s a new personal, life experience post coming at ya! This isn’t a rant at those who have wronged (although there is a story I’ve learnt from!), calling out everyone that’s made me feel crappy or having a self pity, party. It’s about learning, discussing, accepting and growing through these experiences we all undoubtably go through. It’s a reminder that it’s okay to be upset, you don’t have to be indestructible, but know that you’re capable of picking yourself up after a bad experience. You wouldn’t be the amazing person you are today without your experiences – good or bad. So here’s to you, tough ones and hoping this reminds you all that you are kick ass, always have been, always will be.

HAVE COMPASSION

I like to think I don’t dwell on negativity. (or at least not longer than it takes to have a little cathartic cry now and again!) Ironically, a self confessed, positivity lover and optimistic advocate is now writing a whole dedicated, blog post to the subject of negativity! You can’t see rainbows without a little rain and even stars need darkness to shine. I apologise now for the onslaught of quotes – my motivational quote folder on my Pinterest is bursting at the seems! I’m not saying we’re untouchable and no one can ever get to you – but you can pick yourself back up and learn from it. Why has this person said this? Why did they do that? Why are they trying to make me feel this way? Unless you’ve done something to noticeably upset someone or ruffle a few feathers – it’s often a problem with the other persons life that is causing your hurt, as they’re unsure of how to deal with it. I wrote here about why you should care less about what others think, something I’ve definitely learnt through realising it’s no-one else concern or reason to judge what makes me happy!

“WHAT SUSIE SAYS OF SALLY, SAYS MORE OF SUSIE THAN SALLY”

Other peoples words and actions towards you often speak more loudly of them, than they do of you. Try and remind yourself of this’d you’ll see the person behind the words, the hate or the nastiness. There is someone there and something has happened to make them act this way towards you and to me, that’s really sad to think. No matter how hurt I am or how mean someone has been, I would never feel inclined to troll someone online or make them feel in any way worthless or beneath me. Hell, even the thought of giving someone a thumbs down on Youtube makes me sweat!

When someone has made you feel crappy, you will be annoyed and feel down – that’s normal, but time heals all and your feelings will fade. Try to imagine what’s happened to make them act or speak in such a way. It helps you learn to forgive and sympathise – there’s a person there that obviously has their own insecurities, has probably been victimised themselves and doesn’t know how to deal with it. Take a deep breath, hold your head high and continue being your amazing self!

BE THE KIND OF PERSON THAT MAKES PEOPLE FEEL GOOD AROUND YOU.

Something I experienced at school made me question how aware half of these people even are of the hurt they’re causing to you. A boy in the year above me used to make me feel like utter crap, I’d never done anything to him – I was obviously someone he just enjoyed picking on, perhaps to make himself feel more validated  who knows. He’d make a point of singling me out – in the queues for food, on the bus, across the road. I would try and laugh it off, ignore it or pretend it didn’t hurt in front of my friends, when I would actually come home teary eyed wondering what I’d done to deserve it.I bumped into him a couple of years ago, probably at some event around my home town. He was friendly, chatty, totally oblivious to the years of yelling at me and making fun of me or my name at the back of the bus. No embarrassment, no regrets, just total oblivion and smiles as if I was another friendly face from school, when all I saw was the times he made me feel like a piece of crap.

Maybe some people just don’t realise what they’re doing upsets us. It’s a joke, it’s funny, it’s a way to make your mates laugh. I learnt to let go after this and realise that for future incidences, maybe they just don’t realise it hits a bit harder than intended (after all if you’re like me and play totally blasé to everything, how are they supposed to know how upset you are!) People can be dicks, but sometimes they just don’t realise it, especially if no ones ever told them what they’re doing it out of order. Learn from them and be compassionate, kind to those you meet – make them feel happy after being around you.

GROW THROUGH WHAT YOU GO THROUGH

I’m a firm believer in that everything happens for a reason – the good, the bad and the crappy. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without my experiences and this is the reason I’ve learnt to appreciate the bad days, the bullies and odd rubbish comment about me, my skin, my life or anything else about me or my person. Without these experiences, I may not be as compassionate as I am, I might not be so considerate of others and what’s going on behind closed doors and I might have turned out more judgemental than I’d have liked. It’s thanks to those crappy days, feeling embarrassed, worthless or judged that I’ve picked myself up and decided who I want to be, how I want others to feel around me and realised everything that I dont want to be. Through the hard times we grow and become stronger and more incredible. If you’re going through a tough time, remember you’re amazing, strong and no one can dictate how you feel but yourself. You’re worth it, you’re beautiful, unique and you go live your life how you want!

SHOP THE OUTFIT

I hope you loved this one my beauts – I thought I’d take on board your thoughts on twitter and bring you some more life and advice posts, they’re definitely my fave to get writing! HOW I SPENT 24 HOURS IN BELGIUM

HOW I SPENT 24 HOURS IN BELGIUM

BEING ABLE TO TRAVEL AS PART OF MY LITTLE BLOG IS SOMETHING I’VE DREAMED OF,WHAT AN INSANE 24 HOURS FILLED WITH AMAZING PEOPLE, FOOD AND EXPERIENCES!

At the start of this year I set myself a little bucket list, a compilation of things I’d love to achieve by the end of the year – personal goals, business targets and aspirations. Although I may not be close to some of them (more of this in a later blog post) I’m super happy that I’ve managed to smash a few! One thing I wanted to do more of this year was travel – I set myself a goal of going abroad at least twice, by the end of the year I would have doubled that. When the lovely guys from Ice asked me to be a part of celebrating their 10 years in Belgium, I was beaming! They’re a brand you would have seen me work with on numerous occasions – as a blogger it’s an amazing feeling being able to endorse a brand you really feel proud to be a part of and have a genuine passion for.

I adore everything they stand for – the fun, the vibrancy, the accessibility – something that was further reinforced by meeting some of the incredible creatives behind Ice in Belgium! With that, I wanted to share my blogging trip to Belgium with you guys – what we did, where we ate and also, very importantly, what I wore ( plus one hilarious packing drama and a dress malfunction – more of this on the Vlog 😉 ) Hoping you love this one – would love to know whether you guys have been before!

WHERE WE STAYED

Ice Watch was born in Bastogne – where in incredible offices are based (such inspiring, open and art filled spaces!) – so this was where we spent most of our time! We stayed at the Hotel Vayamundo in Houffalize, a gorgeous, glass fronted hotel that seemed never ending (Another laughable aspect in the vlog – I failed to listen to the receptionist and got lost trying to find my room!)

It was set within grounds that resembled a national park – gorgeous trees lining the Hotel and as we drove past the town I was in awe of the classic architecture of the buildings – classic European, pretty and quaint and totally instagrammable! I absolutely love exploring new places in Europe, so this was a big tick off of my list!

WHAT WE DID

Our first port of call was Breakfast and a tour of the Ice Watch Headquarters and offices – a peek around their inspiring space and a morning fuelled on Croissants and macarons! After taking a few snaps of probably, the most Pinterestable offices filled with gorgeous prints and high beams, we all sat down to learn more of Ice Watch and just how much has happened within the last 10 years! The fun then began in the form of illustrating our own watch strap ideas (I spent most of my time hunting down inspo on Pinterest, only to not finish my design!) Lunch then called, followed by a tour of the Cyril Chocolate factory (This guy was actual, real-life, Belgium Willy Wonka – What a character!)

After quick coffee, pit stop I headed back to my room to get ready, followed by the wonderful Makeup Forever artists treating me to a makeup session before shooting off the location for our surrealist dinner and after party! We had a seriously luxe evening, filled with beautiful champagne (I’m a total sucker) wonderful dresses, performances, getting to chat to the other lovely, international bloggers and the most incredible dinner of my life. Never have I been so taken aback by an experience – I was expecting brilliance but not on this scale! I truly felt so proud to be a part of such a wonderful brands heritage celebrations!

WHAT WE ATE

Food is always a highlight of any trip, I love the sociability and trying cuisine from different parts of the world – might I add these guys cater really well for veggies – something that is always super welcome! It never occurs to me that my options may be limited abroad, especially as the UK is generally so good when it comes to peoples lifestyle choices and dietary requirements! Firstly, I need to say how incred the hospitality on the Premium Eurostar carriage was! The morning after, we had a gorge breakfast at Ice HQ full of macarons, fruit and more pastry varieties than I even knew existed served with plenty of flowing coffee and juice!

For lunch, we hit L’adresse in Bastogne, which was a Michelin star restaurant tucked away in a beautiful rural setting. On arrival we drank  sparkling cocktails (always welcome!) and were delighted to a 3 course meal with canapés (I’m also always astounded how they manage to make foam taste so. damn. good!) After our cheeky tasting at the Chocolate Factory, we headed back to hotel to refresh with coffee (the breakfast at Hotel Vayamundo was delicious (great, fresh juices!) before heading to the surrealist dinner by Charles Kaisin. A warehouse filled with 400 dinner guests – never have I witness such a fantastic spectacle and incredible food and wine! ACTUAL. FOODY. HEAVEN. It was like combining fine dining with theatre – every course delighted us with a show (even the waiters costume changed!) Mind blown.

WHAT I WORE

JUST OVER A 24 HOUR STOP, TRAVELLING, A BUSY DAY & A BIG PARTY CALLED FOR SOME TACTICAL PACKING

If you guys have watched my Vlog from my time a Belgium on my Youtube Channel, you would have seen the last minute dress dilemma that I encountered ( Hello stapled, see through, kaftan turned into a dress 😉 ) The dress code was bright & bold, which was a little tricky for a gal that owns a plethora of white and black dresses! After I stitched something a little last minute together (I was actually pretty happy with the Zimmerman vibes of this dress!) I crammed in some heels and a slip dress, plus my fave curling/wave wand of the mo and I was good to go!

Belgium was forecast to be a little drizzly and cold (we got super lucky & the day turned out beaut!) However I still packed a classic, camel coat, black blazer, some comfy but chic denim, some mules (total travel essential!) an oversized tee and a huge, squishy jumper! I feel like I’m slowly nailing the skill of packing little capsule wardrobe for trips away! Chuck all of your top picks on your bed to check all your items work well together to make the most out of your mini, travel wardrobe! (More of my packing & holiday tips here!)

I hope you guys loved my little guide to the alternative side to Benidorm – it really was such an incredible, whirlwind 3 days of luxury, food, beautiful people and wonderful views! You guys over on Instagram couldn’t believe where I was! Massive thank you again to the fabulous guys from Jet2Holidays and Visit Benidorm for an unforgettable trip – I’m already planning my return! HOW I STAY PRODUCTIVE AND FOCUSSED

HOW I STAY PRODUCTIVE AND FOCUSSED

“WITH CHANGING SEASONS AND ENVIRONMENTS, OUR PRODUCTIVITY AND MOTIVATION CAN DIP – SO I’M SHARING HOW I KEEP MYSELF FEELING LIKE I CAN TAKE OVER THE WORLD, ONE BLOG POST AT A TIME!”

There’s no better feeling than writing a big old ‘to do’ list and absolutely smashing everything on it – satisfyingly ticking every task off as you go! I also love feeling like a total girl boss when I get inspired, productive and focused for my daily and weekly tasks. Whether you work in an office, at home or are out and about on your feet, it’s only natural for our productivity levels to dip occasionally. Changes in environment, emotion, wellness and seasons can all affect our motivation, sometimes without realising. Winter is my fave season (I’m a total cliche January baby and LOVE snow, boots, hot drinks and cosy knits!) but with the colder weather we can sometimes feel less motivated with darker days and colder temps.

I wrote here all about my tips on how to stay motivated, especially whilst blogging – I find if I fail to manage my time my productivity falls through the roof and I’m left feeling deflated at the end of the day! Rescue Remedy is something I’ve used for years, thanks to my sister passing one of hers down to me after her driving test – so I’m super happy and proud to be bringing you this post in collab with a brand I’ve loved for a long time! Their new Rescue Remedy Plus couldn’t have come at a better time – I felt like my change in home environment really threw me off my routine and left me feeling unfocussed and  like I wasn’t getting enough done in the day. With that, I’m sharing my tips on how I keep my self on track, pick myself up after unmotivated days and how I keep myself feeling like I can take over the world, one blog post at a time 😉

LISTS, LISTS AND MORE LISTS

I know, I know – THIS is where my inner Monica Bing from Friends comes out. (fellow lover of lists, fyi) I must admit, I used to assume that ‘list people’ must have been slight control freaks – that was until I discovered the wonder, the order and the satisfaction that comes with lists! I have them for everything – shopping, present ideas (cos’, yanno, Christmas is approaching and all 😉 ) weekly to do’s, long term goals and daily tasks. Frankly, without them I feel disorganised and unproductive – especially working from home! Taking 5 minutes at the start of the day to write a list of things that need to be done and prioritised give me a sense of purpose and accomplishment when I’ve completed them. Similarly, even if you don’t work from home, it’s often easy to forget things we want to do without writing them down! Grab a cute notebook, jot things down on your phone – whatever it takes to clear your mind and give you a clear focus on what needs to be done!

FINDING BALANCE

Whenever I used to read the personality traits of a classic Capricorn I used to laugh at how they were depicted as career driven, stubborn beings – assuming I couldn’t be further away from that, when in actuality – it’s rather spot on. I’m a workaholic, always hustling, never really taking time out for fear of missing opportunities – this has it’s pros and cons. Sometimes you need refreshing, you need perspective and you need to take time out in order to refocus. Going on walks, a run, any exercise I find does not only a great job of giving me time away, but also makes me feel energised and motivated to come back and work my bum off! (I also love to pop a few sprays of the Rescue Remedy on before a workout if I’m feeling sluggish)

If I spend too long staring at notes, editing pictures, forcing myself to write without inspiration and filming videos I lose a sense of why I enjoy it – I personally get things done so much faster when I’m inspired. So when I’m feeling a little un inspired, I take myself out of my workplace, out of that environment and into a completely different one – wander to a coffee shop, walk through the countryside, treat yourself to an afternoon shopping or bake a new healthy treat! I instantly come back revived and ready! Would love to know if this works for you guys (feel free to throw tips at me too 😉 )

 HAVE YOUR LITTLE RITUALS

I try to start my mornings with little rituals that set me up for a great rest of the day! Sometimes this might be making a morning juices/smoothie, having my hot coffee, preparing my fave breakfast or 10 minutes quiet time before I crack on with tasks or a nice hot shower to make me feel awake. If you’ve caught my Morning Routine on my channel you’ll be able to have a peek at what a usual morning looks like – for me, if I start my morning right, I feel 10x better and ready to tackle the day. I also love to pack essentials in my handbag for busy day or have some pick me ups at my desk to that mid afternoon slump! I mentioned on my insta stories that for the last few weeks I’ve been keeping my Rescue Remedy right beside my desk and instead of an afternoon caffeine fix, I pop a few squirts of the Spray bottle on my tongue (tastes like lemon cordial which is DELISH!)

I totally forgot I’d used it the first time and had a super productive afternoon shooting content for hours, wondering why I felt so energised and hadn’t got tired yet. I remembered I’d used the spray, which is packed with a combination of flower essences (love a good natural product!) as well as selected B vitamins to help support normal mental performance. It also comes in a dropper bottle, to pop into a drink – I’m definitely partial to the classic spray for a boost on the go! Lots of you said you swear by the classic Rescue Remedy, so I’d love to know if you’ve tried this one! You can grab it exclusively at boots, I honestly can’t tell you how much I love using this every afternoon!

HOW TO GET THE MOST FROM YOUR HOLIDAY WARDROBE

HOW TO GET THE MOST FROM YOUR HOLIDAY WARDROBE

THE ART OF PACKING IS REAL!

If you beauts have been following along on Instagram & Insta stories you’ll have seen that the other week I was in a tiny area of Greece for a little break away. I’m super excited to share my vlog and lookbook with you guys over on my YouTube channel, which got me thinking all about my holiday wardrobe and packing habits. Over the years I’ve learnt (kind of 😉 ) to whittle down my holiday wardrobe to a capsule collection of pieces that all work together, saving serious time and extra baggage charges!

We took these snaps on our break away to Benidorm with the beautiful people at Jet2 (you can catch the vlog here! and my travel guide!) and I now feel like I’ve become some what of a connoisseur of packing pieces that I get loads of wear out of. After all, there’s nothing worse than lugging around a huge suitcase full of things you never end up wearing! Hear I’m sharing what I’ve learnt from experience when it comes to packing light and efficiently, meaning you can get the most out of your holiday wardrobe, whatever your destination!

SHIRTS ARE A GALS BEST FRIEND

Seriously, when comes an occasion whereby one cannot rock a sassy shirt? Come rain, shine or even snow, packing a few shirts can never go amiss. They’re the most hard working pieces in my wardrobe, whatever country I’m in and for good reason! My personal fave for holidays are light, cottony materials and oversized, making them easy to chuck over a ‘kini and keep you cool (like I’ve done here!) Alternatively, fab for tucking into denim shorts or jeans for a city mini break or layering under some knitwear for a ski season. There, didn’t I tell you they could work for all occasions? 😉

PICK KEY & VERSATILE ACCESSORIES

I‘m a bag and shoe girl at heart, particularly shoes – damnit why can’t I stop buying shoes?! The thing is, yes they lift an outfit, can spice up something otherwise boring but they’re also heavy and take up a tonne of room! I have to be super strict with shoes (I still ended up taking 7 pairs on a 3 day trip…) and for Greece I decided to really whittle it down and save some space! 2 handbags are suffice – a small cross body and a rucksack or big, beach bag for long days. For summer and warm hols, I highly suggest a rope bag – folds up to nothing and enabled me to take 3 without the hefty suitcase!

When it comes to shoes – you do have to be sensible sometimes (begrudgingly) and think what you’re doing on holiday and what is going to practically get you through the day. In Spain, I knew we would be very active so trainers were a must. I rarely take anything above a thick, block or kitten heel on holiday anymore – purely because I’ve packed high heels too many times and completely ditched them in favour of something more comfortable! Keep it varied so you’re catered for all occasions – trainers, maybe ankle boots, slides and a pretty pair of sandals for evening (these were perfect!) and you’re sorted!

LAY EVERYTHING OUT BEFORE YOU GO,SO THAT YOU CAN SEE THE PALETTE AND ENSURE EVERYTHING COMPLIMENTS EACHTOHER

The key to making the most out of your holiday wardrobe is to essentially capsulise it – making every, single item work together with one another, so no matter how you pair them, it just works. Pack your staples, some denim, comfy, basic tees, a leather jacket and then chuck in some new season pieces to mix it up. I want to be comfortable and relaxed on holiday, so usually opt for oversized and flowing silhouettes.

As much as I like to pretend I’d rock that sexy, skin tight dress I’d probably choose a bellowing maxi over it any day. Laying everything out before you pack is a great way to see if anything looks out of place, I always question something if it won’t work with the rest of my items – is it worth taking? When I’m in holiday mode, I like to wake up, chuck an ensemble on and get on with my day – not stress over what to wear! Make it easy on yourselves and do the prep beforehand! (Pinterest is bloody marvellous too for outfit inspo!)
