I’M DETERMINED TO CARRY THE FESTIVE SPARKLE INTO THE NEW YEAR AND KEEP THAT FEELING OF EXCITEMENT AND JOY ALIVE
From September onwards, as the temperatures in England slowly drop and high street stores are full to the brim with new season coats, I’m filled with an ever growing feeling of excitement, happiness and just generally looking forward to the upcoming months. The Autumn and Winter period is filled with my favourite things: Cosy interiors, candles, cooking great food, friends, family and taking time out to enjoy yourself. Fairy lights, festive, red jumpers and sparkling dresses fill my days with smiles but when Christmas is over I’m left with a slightly deflated feeling and the January blues slowly, set in.
If you follow my Youtube Channel you’ll know I had the best time in Christmassy London shooting some content for Ice Watch’s new, Christmas collection and It inspired me to try and find ways to carry this feeling into the new year and beyond. I want the excitement and anticipation to last. Whether it’s small things within your day, taking time for yourself or wearing a little something to remind you to keep going – I’m sharing my ways of how to keep your positivity and festive sparkle all year round!
KEEP THE RITUALS ALIVE
What so many of us adore about this time of year is the traditions and little rituals we have. Decorating and adorning every corner of our house with sparkle, baking festive treats with our loved ones and filling every room with Christmas, scented candles. Little things like this always keep me so content so why stop after Christmas? After the festive period I’m going to make a conscious effort to continue lighting candles at my desk, switching on all of my fairy lights, finding time to cook delicious things and be more mindful. I won’t wait for Christmas to swing by to enjoy all of my sparkly dresses and jewellery that make me feel amazing, like this gorge, gold, Ice Watch – you can live in sequins all year round! Enjoy being with those you care about and don’t wait until the festive season to plan get-togethers. Do more of the little things that make you smile and feel happy, it’s these things that fill our day with the good stuff and keep our spirits high, even if you are prone to the January blues.
LOOKING DOWN AT MY WRIST, THEY REMIND ME TO KEEP MY CHIN UP, ENJOY THE LITTLE THINGS AND SPARKLE NO MATTER HOW DARK THE SKY GETS
You’ll know I’m an optimist advocate if you’ve read my post all about being positive, even in difficult times. But even the happiest people have down days. Seasonal changes can make us prone to feeling de-motivated and a little down in the dumps, which is why injecting some feel good into every day is such a good way to overall improve your mood. There’s so many amazing ways to make yourself feel good, from being conscious of your diet, getting some fresh air to wearing your fave, figure loving jeans or adding a touch of sparkle to your everyday with one of the Ice Watch City Sparkling range!
I’m really sentimental when it comes to my jewellery and love to wear pieces that bare a meaning – from rings gifted by family members, motivational quotes or delicate wrist watches. I love how these watches not only contrast and pop against my outfits ( plus add a little bit of Christmas sass!) But remind me to have my chin up, enjoy the little things and sparkle no matter how dark the sky gets. I thought, “why should I save the glitter for party season when I can have it all year round?” This is why they’ve taken such a firm place in my everyday outfits!
LOOK AFTER YOURSELF AND SURROUND YOURSELF WITH GOODNESS
Self care is of the most importance, but the majority of us are probably, pretty awful at remembering to look after ourselves. This doesn’t necessarily mean physically, but mentally and emotionally. If you’ll feel better after going for a brisk walk, a jog or cycle – schedule in some time, even if it’s just 15 minutes of your day. If you’re feeling weighed down with the pressures life brings or negativity, talk to someone – even if it’s finding somewhere online to talk with likeminded people. When I’ve felt down it’s having others around that have helped lift me up!
If you’re looking after yourself your mind and body will love you for it – if something is bothering you, find the cause and slowly work through how to tackle it. It will take time and it’s okay to not always be sure what to do. But devising ways to improve areas of your life you’re not content with will be a huge weight off of your shoulders and feel like progress. Remember you’re amazing, you can do absolutely anything you want to and surround yourself with people who love you for you.
