“I’M ALL FOR A TOUCH OF GLAMOUR BUT I STILL LIKE TO RETAIN A FRESH, DEWY COMPLEXION”
I‘m a huge fan of a deep, velvety, red lip or a banging smokey eye and I adore the whole ritual of getting glammed up for an event or evening. I’m a ‘glass of wine on the floor whilst curling my hair and belting out a song half naked’ kind of getting ready girl, and as much as I love putting on my war paint, I’ve always aired on the natural side of things.
This may or may not be because of my ‘new’ skin I’ve acquired over the last couple of years, from going on acne medication (More of that and my roaccutane diaries here) But whatever the reason, I’m always in favour of some aspect of my outfit or makeup being ‘undone’, messy or natural. So if you’re looking for ideas for a natural glam makeup routine or products, hopefully you’ll find a little gem from my favourites below!
LASHES, LASHES, LASHES.
First and foremost, let’s talk lashes. I love a good falsey now and again (partial to a fluttery set of Eylure lashes – pssst, if you didn’t know I featured in some of their videos last year, which is where the love affair REALLY began!) They can look surprisingly natural if you get the right pair, but when I don’t fancy fiddling around with glue and REAAALLY (I mean really, really) enhancing what I’ve got, I turn to Artistry Studio. If they ring a bell, it’s because I’ve mentioned them before and am super proud to work with them on a regular basis. The 3 in 1 Lash Boosting mascara is something I’ve used for years, ever since I modelled for a live demonstration for them and was stunned at how well they held up my lashes. For me, it’s long lasting, you can volumize them and by twisting the wand, lengthen it to really elongate them! For extra staying power (this stuff literally makes them look like you’ve had an LVL lash lift!) prime them beforehand with the Artistry Studio Bangkok edition mascara base primer – I must admit I never saw the point of primer until I tried this! I really like to widen my eyes but I keep things natural by having minimal mascara on the bottom lashes. A serious game changer.
THE PINCHED CHEEK FLUSH AND VELVET LIPS
If I’m honest, keep the skin minimal; well hydrated, good skincare and a touch of colour corrector or concealer where you need it, less really is more to make sure the lips, eyes and fluffy brows have more punch. I’m also fond of popping some vaseline over the lids, cheek bone and brow bone for a healthy sheen. You want to see your actual skin, not a bland, colourless, camouflage if you can avoid it. Brush your brows up and set with hairspray or a brow gel and a little pencil if you need some extra definition. To inject some colour, dab your lipstick on your palms and press onto your cheeks for a natural flush that will last all night long. (looks 10x more natural and lasts longer than any blush would – I used a 3ina one here) If you don’t want a strong lip, you can dab it on with your finger for more of a ‘stain’ effect which is softer, or you can paint it on with a lip liner brush like I did here! Spray with a nourishing face mist to refresh and add extra dew, and you’re good to go!
I hope you guys loved this one (I had so much fun taking these images!) I’d love to know what your ‘go-to’ glam makeup looks are, and what you put on as default for an event or night out! Pop a comment below or my Insta DM’s are always open for a chat!
