Looking through these images it’s near impossible for me to hold in a smile, because for me, I never thought skin this clear and smooth was achievable for me. I never thought I’d receive comments depicting me as ‘glowing’ – yet here we are. If you’ve been following my skin journey – you’ll know it’s a hindsight deeper than a few products. I’ve struggled with my skin since my late teens and into my early twenties. I’ve tried all medication under the sun, I’ve tried without it, I’d changed my diet and up hauled my lifestyle, yet to no avail. Until (after a long, hard 3 year decision!) I went on Roaccutane last year and me and my skin have never looked back. (You can read all about it and see my before and after pictures in this post.)

Now that I have skin that’s comfortable and I don’t have to worry about products hurting or making my face sore – I’ve been having the time of my life, really starting to enjoy skincare and makeup. I’m obsessed with highlighters, resurfacers, high, moisture hit products and anything that will enhance the glow I never thought was possible. Some of these products have been year long, loves and others are recent affairs over the at last couple of months. So here’s an honest edit of all the things that have really helped perk my skin up – the blushes, the palletes, the toners and the creams.

Pre-Roaccutane I had THE OILIEST skin and struggled to actually use anything targeted as giving you a glow because it just enhanced my spots further (If you have this problem feel free to DM me on Insta and I’ll give you some advice – I know how difficult it is!) So naturally, I’m now hitting the highlighters HARD! I still favour something natural though – just me  but more awake and slightly ethereal.

Mary Loumanizer was my first love and this compact has lasted me YEARS! A little goes a long way and it’s the right balance of warm and cool. The Laura Geller baked gelato swirl is all kinds of dreamy and extremely pigmented! I like to use this on my collarbone too! Lastly, the rose gold packaging of the Nude by Nature palette had me sold but I also love the subtle differences of the colours – one for every occasion!

All these bases either brighten, smooth, give you a dew but also help cover problem areas; all whilst feeling lightweight (basically the dream then!) The Clarins cushion foundation was the first I ever used (because before they were too sheer) This still beautifully covers any scars but leaves my skin looking insanely healthy – a go to for ‘no makeup’ makeup. The Erborian CC cream is quite possibly the best thing I’ve also ever put on my face – your skin but better. Sleeks vitality Foundation is beautifully lightweight but has incredibly, buildable coverage if you need a little extra – semi matte finish for a healthy shine.

The Topshop Glow primer and Bare Minerals prime time brightening primer are both very similar – Great to wear alone for a sheer layer of sparkle or I either mix them in with my foundation or apply underneath for a healthy boost!

The Pixi Glow Tonic has been a staple for a while now – primarily because it’s gentle enough for most skin types – normal, sensitive and dry. It removes dead skin cells gently, revealing brighter skin. Similarly, the REN ready, steady glow is a gentle resurfacer – both products giving you a fresh, clarified face without being harsh. I just sweep these over after cleansing on a cotton pad to help smooth and replenish. Quick and effective.

The Kiehl’s Glow formula has been highly praised in the beauty world and for good reason! Hydrates skin, smooths and adds a subtle glow – all whilst being lightweight but also adding comfortable moisture. It has antioxidant benefits and is enriched with Pomegranate Extract and Illuminating Minerals – basically a wonder product! I use by itself, mixed in with foundation, as a primer or sometimes to add a touch of sheen to my cheekbones!

Hydration is a gals best friend. Oils have been a solid part of my skincare for years – both for their benefits and ‘cos they make me feel absolutely pampered! The Hero Project’s Glow Drops was actually THE FIRST facial oil I ever used and started my obsession! Light enough for day time – so perfect to look like the instant, picture of health but also great for nighttime or mixed with your fave foundation! Decleor is also a brand I’ve fallen head over heels with recently – Their oil serum feels like you’re having a facial and the scent instantly calms me after a stressful day, whilst helping my skin recover overnight! For extra glow, spend time really gently sweeping it over your skin!

Speaking of which, Decleor’s refreshing mist is a must have for me all year round – sets your makeup, refreshes your skin, perfect for hot days and adding a subtle dew to your skin! A fab instant moisture hit. Last but absolutely not least is Elizabeth Arden’s Superstart skin renewal booster – use before your morning serum to really boost your skincare routine, as it helps to make the rest of your products more efficient and just makes my face feel generally more comfortable and hydrated – the skincare step I never knew I was lacking!

I love a rosy cheek – a subtle pinch of pink for instant health. Better more, is a blush with glow, which is why I adore these multi-taskters (plus they save valuable makeup bag space when travelling!) The Fenty Beauty Match Stix are more like a highlighter, but grab a pink toned one and dot and smudge over your cheekbone to look like you’ve come fresh from a workout! I Also love popping this on my cupids bow and a dot down the bridge of my nose!

I’m a huge lover of Pixi beauty and I adore the golden and pink glow this blush brings in Rome Rose! Sweep over the apples or your cheeks, or if you’re looking for something a little more cool toned, give the ever so Instagrammable bleeding heart highlighter from I heart Makeup Revolution a whirl! Very similar but more silvery for a slightly more natural look – a little goes a long way with this one.

Really hope you enjoyed this beauty edit – now that I have clear skin I’m well and truly obsessed with getting my glow back! Would love to know what your absolute FAVE products are for getting a healthy, dewy glow – comment below so I can have an excuse to try some more goodness out 😉
